Psychological Safety Measurement Masterclass - 6 July 2026, Stream 1

This is a workshop focusing on the measurement of psychological safety, utilising both quantitative and qualitative methods, and drawing on sociological research methodologies.

This is a 2.5 hour workshop that assumes an essential understanding of psychological safety.

It's designed to be applicable to any industry, from technology to healthcare, local government to education.

Time: 9am UK time.

We cover the following aspects of measuring psychological safety:

  • An brief review of the theory of psychological safety.
  • The rationale for measuring it in long and short-lived teams.
  • The costs, risks and dangers of measuring psychological safety.
  • Longitudinal vs Cross-sectional research.
  • Sociological Research Methods: Quantitative, Qualitative and Mixed-Methods approaches.
  • Survey design and analysis
  • Data visualisation and how to present your findings
  • Research Ethics
  • Further reading and resources.

We address measurement from a practitioner perspective whilst acknowledging the academic perspective also. It’s interactive, engaging, and hands-on.

We offer one scholarship place entirely free of charge to each workshop. The scholarship is intended for those for whom any payment at all is out of reach. Preference is given to people in lower-income countries and from disadvantaged or under-represented groups. Contact us if you're interested.

Jade Garratt

Jade is all about crafting inclusive, healthy and psychologically safe educational environments that allow both educators and students to thrive. With 15 years of experience spanning classroom teaching, the charitable sector, higher education, and the private sector, she brings a unique blend of insights to the table. Trust, openness, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of her educational philosophy. Initially, Jade dedicated five years to teaching and middle leadership in schools in challenging contexts, alongside her studies for a Master’s in Educational Leadership. She then transitioned to coaching and leadership development with Teach First, a UK educational charity and social movement. More recently, she held a senior position in educational enhancement at the University of Nottingham. Her doctoral research focuses on the impact of students’ educational backgrounds on their university experience, through a social justice lens. With a Physics degree from Oxford University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and ongoing PhD research in Educational Practice at the University of Nottingham, Jade’s passion for education is at the core of her work. She aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed in a supportive environment. Her diverse expertise and commitment make her a valuable member of our team and the broader educational community
